FAQ

What is the difference between detection methods or security features, like; MT (metal thread) , MG (magnetic ink), SD (size detection), IR (infrared) etc)?
Safescan False Money Detectors are able to verify these security features. Most devices operate automatically and some must be operated manually. Safescan 135i and Safescan 155i are Safescan’s most extensive False Money Detector. The product has a 100% score in the test by the European Central Bank (ECB), which entails that it automatically checks the banknote for authenticity, within a split second.
Various security features have been incorporated into Euro banknotes to help people recognise a genuine banknote at a glance. Euro banknotes are printed on pure cotton paper, which gives them a unique feel. Several parts on the front are printed in relief so that the banknotes can also be identified by touch.

What is the ECB and what does it entail?
The ECB is the Central Bank for Europe's single currency, the euro. The ECB’s main task is to maintain the euro's purchasing power and thus price stability in the euro area. The euro area comprises the 16 European Union countries that have introduced the euro since 1999.
The European Central Bank is the body that provides the testing of money handling devices; including some of our counterfeit detectors. Safescan’s money counting detectors that have undergone the ECB test have all achieved a 100% score.

Are all Safescan products ECB tested?
Only automatic counterfeit detectors qualify for the ECB test. The reason is that the decision of authenticity is no longer in the hands of the user, but in the hands of the device. To ensure that the automatic device is reliable, the ECB runs test in different ways.
All of the Safescan products qualified for this test received a 100% test result, and are consequently reliable.

How can I clean my product?
Safescan products need minimal maintenance which (often) can be done by yourself. Please check your enclosed manual for maintenance guidelines. If you no longer hold a product manual, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Desk by mail. Your request will then be processed and you will be contacted by email or by phone.

Where can I find my product manual?
Product manuals are always enclosed in the product package. If you no longer have a product manual, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Desk by mail. Your request will then be processed and you will automatically be contacted by email or by phone.

Where can I check the status of my order?
You can find the status of your order in two ways:
1. After you have made your order you will receive an automatic notification containing your DHL-Tracking Number. With this number you can track and trace your order on the DHL webpage.
2. After you have made your order, an account will be created for you on the Safescan website Safescan. By entering your personal (received) log-in details, you can track your order. You can also see your shopping history, your invoice and you can change your personal details in your personal Safescan account.

If another currency is desirable, however not offered, can I still request the product?
Yes! With some of Safescan’s products it is easy to change the default/ currency setting. For further information related to currency settings, please fill in the contact form on our website. Safescan’s Customer Service desk will in turn contact you by mail or by phone to assist you with your request.

Why should I make use of a Counterfeit Detector Update?
If the European Union (EU) decides to introduce a new type of banknote or denomination; or when the detection characteristics of a current banknote change, you can easily update your Safescan device.
Note: this can only be done if your Safescan device has an update port and you are in possession of an appropriate update cable (available in Safescan’s webshop click here).

How can I reach Safescan’s Customer or Technical Support?
Safescan’s multilingual in-house Customer and Technical Support teams are always willing to help you and assist you with Safescan products. On our website website you can fill out a form. Your form will then be processed and you will be contacted by email or by phone.

Does Safescan have local dealers/ partners?

Does Safescan offer a trial period?
Safescan’s webshop operates on the basis of a 10 day satisfaction warranty.
Within these 10 days (starting from the day you received your Safescan product), if you are not fully satisfied with your chosen product, you can return the undamaged (as new) product, accessories and box to Safescan. After Safescan has received your request and undamaged product, we will refund the cost of the returned product(s). Please check the warranty information on our website for the complete procedure.

How long does delivery of my products take?

Note: when the payment method ‘Payment in Advance’ is chosen, the delivery process will commence on the day Safescan receives your payment.
