Bing Zhou, co-owner of the GSM-Shop: “Since we’ve started using the Safescan 125 we haven’t accepted a single counterfeit banknote!"

Since the opening of the first store in 1999, the number of GSM-Shops increased explosively. There are now 19 shops operational in the entire country, managed partially on a franchise basis. Furthermore, the chain – dealer of all major telecom providers - exploits three well-attended web shops and has a professional B2B sales organisation at its disposal.

Bing Zhou, one of the founders of the first GSM-Shop in the heart of The Hague is particularly proud of the position “his” company acquired. “We developed into one of the four largest, provider-independent retailers in the field of mobile telephone contracts. And the growth hasn’t come to a standstill yet. In the nearby future we expect a lot from the introduction of the revolutionary Apple iPhone, which, as a preferred partner of Vodafone, we are able to offer to our customers as one of the first.”

More and more counterfeit banknotes
Bing, responsible for a few web shops and the coordination of the business sales activities, came in contact with the solutions of Safescan in his role as shop-manager. “Mid-2005 we were faced with a booming amount of counterfeit banknotes of 50 and 100 Euro. Those notes were very hard to distinguish from the valid ones with the naked eye. It took an excessive amount of time to determine which notes were counterfeit. And time is something our employees lack, because they don’t want to let other customers wait unnecessarily. Furthermore, we ended up having aggravating discussions. The ‘yes it is, no it isn’t’ conversations, so to speak.”

100% result!
Since the Safescan 125 was set to work last year, those problems ended once and for all. Bing: “The good news is that we haven’t accepted a single counterfeit banknote since! Besides this, we can now accept notes of 200 and 500 Euro with confidence, because they are quickly validated by the Safescan as well. An extra bit of service towards our clients! All in all, our employees are now able to work more flexible, customer-oriented and safer. Another pleasantry is that discussions no longer occur. The detector always has the final word and the people appear to readily accept that.”
